My First Season as Queen's Football Coach

Steven Synder just completed his first season as the new coach of the Queen's Football team. For the past two seasons Snyder has been the offensive coordinator for the Western Mustangs, helping the team achieve remarkable results, including two Yates Cup victories, back-to-back Vanier Cup appearances, and the 2017 Vanier Cup title. Come out and hear what it's like to coach a university football team. |

Please join us in advance of International Women's Day to hear Dr. Elaine Power, Head of the Gender Studies Department at Queen's University. Elanie's research is focused on issues related to poverty, class, food, and health. Drawing on literature from the sociology of food, the sociology of health, the sociology of consumption, the sociology of childhood, and cultural studies, and using qualitative research methods, she explores social, cultural, political and symbolic aspects of food, eating, the body, and health. With our club's commitment to food security in Kingston and beyond, Elaine's work presentation should be very interesting. |

Working as an Aboriginal midwife

Dr. Karen Lawford (Ph.D., R.M., A.M.) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender Studies at Queen’s University and an Adjunct Research Professor in the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies at Carleton University. She is the first registered midwife and Indigenous midwife in Canada to obtain a doctoral degree and hold a university appointment. She advocates for maternity care that allows community members to give birth in their communities and on the land, and has explored the resiliency and resistance of women evacuated from their communities for birth. She is a founding member of the National Aboriginal Council of Midwives. Dr. Lawford recently received an Indspire Award. Indspire is a national Indigenous registered charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people for the long term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. |

Join us via Zoom as Reagan Gale talks about changes in our thinking as we age. Reagan received her PhD from the University of Windsor with a focus in Clinical Neuropsychology. She is the founding president of the Psychological Society of the Yukon and President-Elect of the College of Alberta Psychologists. Reagan is the Director of Clinical Psychology for the Yukon Department of Health and Social Services, where she has been formally recognized as one of the emerging leaders within the public service. Reagan was a Rotary Exchange student to the Philippines, hosted by the Club of Kingston and the Islands, and is a current member of the Rotary Club of Whitehorse.
