President Ignatoff presents Ana de Ponte Thomson with Club Rotarian of the Year Award
In his last official meeting as President, Bill Egnatoff reflected upon the Rotary year, and all of our club's accomplishments.
- Bill returned to the invitation to look at our club organically, which is particularly relevant considering our work with Little Forest Kingston. Elsabe herself said this morning that she views the Four Way Test as applying to all the earth, not just humans. Bill spoke of the gift he was given by all of us to be our President.
- 2023 was a year that we focused on our operations - what it means to be a member. Everyone must find something here that excites them, but is in balance with the rest of your life, and brings you joy. Members participate in the activities of the club in some way, but we all must be open to new ideas. Bill has put forth many ideas, and someone runs with them and makes them great. Kudos to the Committees for doing this, we always take what we've learned and make things better - FAR is a great example.
- We reviewed our mission and strategic direction. Bill Gray poked us to think not just a few years ahead, but 10 years from now. Like our indigenous partners, who think 7 generations ahead.
- Thanks to John Gale how he stepped up as treasurer, and paved the way for the positive changes that Anna has instituted.
- Thanks as well to Jim Rymerson, our secretary who does so many behind-the-scenes things that are absolutely essential.
- Kudos to John Farrow who stepped up after lots of conversations to be President-Elect, and thanks for your recovery.
- As well to Tom Zsolnay who brings knowledge and a keen sense of fun to our board and club, and for his (and John Gale's) help on our bylaws.
- Thanks to Elizabeth and Heather for their leadership in Community Service, Bill Gray and John Gale for their work in International Service.
- Thanks to Scott for his leadership in Youth Service.
- Thanks to all who have helped with fundraising - it's all about relationships.
- Thanks to John Borst, Greg Mumford, and Jim Rymerson for their work on our website and communications.
Lastly, Bill awarded the Rotarian Of The Year Award to Ana da Ponte Thomson. Ana is a worthy recipient of the award for all she does for our club. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!
