The Rotary Four Way Test
Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned
Rotary Reflection
For food in a world where many walk in hunger
For peace in a world where many walk in fear
For friends in a world where many walk alone
And for the opportunity to serve others through Rotary,
May we be truly thankful!

John Gale was fined as last one in (glad he came as her was speaking). Robert Reid was best-dressed.

John Farrow caught up with Francine Allard at the Mumford and Sons concert, and saw his grand-nephew for the first time.
Martin Thomas paid for the privilege of telling a groaner of a joke, and John and Heather put in a happy buck for Norm Neil’s puns on Facebook.
Service Activities
Easter Seals
Krista gave us an update on Easter Seals. March is Easter Seals month, so it is being profiled on CKWS throughout the month. Easter Seals was started by Rotarians in 1922, so there’s always been a close link between Rotary and Easter Seals. It can cost $40K/year to raise a child with a disability and due to cuts by other agencies, the need is even greater than in past years. Mobility devices are not covered by any government funding, so parents must cover costs for things like car seats, wheelchairs, ramps, and bath lifts on their own. Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause, and pass on the word to your friends and neighbours.
Also, watch for a chance to help at Camp Merrywood – either on cleanup, or at the August 1 Bar-B-Q!
Queen’s Rotaract Pi Day!
Ellen and Emily are taking orders for apple or blueberry pies for $20.00 each, and are also looking for any help to bake them. They will be baking at the Boys and Girls Club on Bath Road. Email if you can assist, or would like to order a pie!

As noted at Rotary on Tuesday, Maya will be moving to her next host family, the Chatten-Fiedorecs, on March 8 (Friday).
Next week is March break, and students are often at loose ends over the break. Could you please post an appeal to members to consider any opportunities to engage our exchange student in any activities they might have planned?
They should copy Michelle and Rick with any invitations.
John Gale, International Service Director, presented the club with an opportunity for a Rotary Global Grant/ Centenary Project.
In brief, it would involve partnering with Pathways to Education to fund a “guidance counselor” to assist students, principally from Kingston's North end, to transition from high school to post secondary education or the job market. Pathways has already seen a marked improvement in the retention rate with the assistance of a counselor, and this would build on that. Through District, Foundation, and International partners’ funds we could fund a three year position which could have a far reaching benefit to the community. In addition to our monetary contribution, there is the opportunity to establish an Interact Club at the new High School, and a Rotaract Club at St. Lawrence College – enlisting the aid of Queen’s Rotaract and the Kingston Club. There is also the opportunity for members (and past members or Friends of Rotary), to serve as mentors to students who may not have family support. The full proposal will be posted for members to peruse and consider, and there will be time for questions at our meeting of March 19.
