Community Service Project Grant Application Guidelines
Call for Community Service Project Grant Proposals
ALL APPLICATIONS DUE MIDNIGHT OCTOBER 15, 2022
The Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston is inviting submissions for grants to fund local (greater Kingston area) innovative community service projects. We will accept by online form only proposals that are aligned with the Rotary International seven areas of focus (see Our Causes on the Rotary International Web site and Supporting the environment for the newest area) and that address needs within the greater Kingston community.
These priorities are:
- Promoting peace
- Fighting disease
- Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Saving mothers and children
- Supporting education
- Growing local economies
- Supporting the environment
Note: We do not provide funding for operational budgets, and ask that you only submit a proposal if requesting funds for a specific project you are currently working on, or looking to start.
Application Guidelines
Regular grant proposals must be submitted using the Community Service Project Grant Online Application Form.
Mini-grant proposals (see below for further details) must be submitted using either the Community Service New Initiative Mini-Grant Application Form or the Community Service School-Based Mini-Grant Project Application Form.
For both Regular and Mini-Grant applications, please give careful consideration to how the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston and its members can work with your organization and its people on an ongoing basis to ensure the success of your project. We are particularly interested in developing partnerships that will extend beyond the project.
Budget and financial data must also be submitted, in MS Excel or CSV format. The online form allows you to upload these documents.
All details of what is required for the application are indicated on the online application form.
If you do not provide all the information noted in the form, we may disqualify your project from consideration; however, we may request further details from the listed contact person during our assessment of your application. It is important that you are able to respond to our questions by the date noted in our request.
The top applicants for each type of grant may be invited to make a presentation to discuss their work prior to the final selection. In the discussion, we will be particularly interested in how we can work together on the proposed project.
Projects that are approved for this grant invitation will be notified by email or phone by a representative of the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston as soon as possible after the application deadline. Our Club is a 100% volunteer organization and we are not able to provide information on the status of your proposal in advance of this date. We thank you in advance for respecting this limitation.
Successful project applicants must be willing to maintain regular communication with the club about the project as it unfolds and to provide a follow-up report to the club not later than 12 months following receipt of the grant. A presentation to our club members or a written report may be provided. Please note that failure to provide this follow-up reporting may eliminate your organization from future consideration for grants from the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston.
New Initiative Mini-Grants
Mini-grant proposals must be submitted using the Community Service New Initiative Mini-Grant Application Form or the Community Service School-Based Mini-Grant Project Application Form.
Number of Grants: 2
Maximum Award: $500 each
This is a new category for Community Service Projects Grants of our club. The goal is to provide limited financial support for new small-scale initiatives with a hands-on focus that address a specific need within the greater Kingston Community. These grants are open to non-profit organizations or groups whose goals and ideals are consistent with Rotary International’s seven areas of focus, and must adhere to the guidelines above. We don't expect as much detail in the mini-grant applications as for the standard grants. In each case, the lead individual for the project should be prepared to present the proposal to the C-K Rotary Community Service Committee at a future meeting and allow for questions. For student applications, this should be the lead student, together with the supervising teacher.
Mini-Grant 1: Start Up Mini-Grant
This grant is open to new and existing organizations or groups with plans to launch a new small-scale project with an emphasis on “hands-on” community service.
Mini-Grant 2: School-Based Mini-Grant
This grant is open to both High Schools and Elementary Schools with a new initiative that will engage students, under the supervision of a Teacher Supervisor, in a community service activity with a “hands-on” focus. It is intended for student clubs or project groups.
