John Schreiner receives loaf of bread as thank-you for his talk

Dr. John Schreiner, Queen's Professor Emeritus in The Department of Physics, Engineering Physics & Astronomy brings a physicist's expertise to the field of radiation oncology. As a leader in sharing such expertise in low- and middle-income countries, he spoke to our club January 20, 2026 of his collaboration with Kenyan colleagues to establish a Master of Science program in Medical Physics.

In the developing world there is as low a ratio of operating radiation oncology machines as 1 per 50 million people. However the issue is not availability of machines - it is an issue of trained personnel. John is working with colleagues in Kenya to help establish an M.Sc. program in medical physics to help correct the situation.

Hear John's entire talk and note how the collaboration operates just as Rotary does.
