Today we welcomed Dan Irwin, the Executive Director of the Partners in Mission Food Bank.

Partners in Mission recently completed a move from 140 Hickson Avenue, to 4 Harvey Street, a much bigger facility the formerly housed the Tri Art paint factory. This new facility allowed a change from a model where clients are just handed a food box based on the family size to a shopping based model where clients can customize the food choices in the food box.
For those who have no been in Kingston since the 1980's, the Food Bank was the idea of Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, and opened in November 1985. Food Banks were supposed to be a temporary measure, but 40 years on, Partners in Mission is serving more clients than ever. Dan spoke about the new facility, the clients they serve, and cooperation with other agencies concerned about food security in Kingston.
Dan's full presentation can be seen at;
Dan was introduced today by Saeid, and was thanked by John Farrow.
